Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on (2/5/2020) to review supplemental health and safety requirements. Today an unannounced renewal inspection was conducted between the hours of 2:55pm and 5:00pm. There were 31 children in care directly supervised by 2 staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed doing homework, reading, coloring, drawing, playing in the gym, and eating snack. Today's snack consisted of CapriSun Apple 100% Juice, and Scooby-Doo Grahams. The physical plant, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. The cafeteria was found to be clean, safeguarded appropriately, and adequately supplied with equipment and supplies. Medication management was in compliance. Required staff training documents and emergency contacts were on-site. Emergency preparedness supplies in order. Required documents posted. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. Please send questions regarding this new requirement to maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov .
