Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-1 Complaint related: Yes Description: The facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required on 02/14/2020 relating to child to teacher ratios in the infant room.
Staff #1 and #2 were both interviewed and confirmed that the infant room was left out of ratio on 02/14/2020 around 9:50 am when staff #1 had to leave for her college course. Staff #2 confirmed through interview that she remained in the classroom with 9 infants from 9:50 am until approximately 10:45 am. At 10:45 am another staff member arrived to assist. Staff #2 stated in the interview that she was unaware that staff #1 was not scheduled to work the entire day and would be subsequently leaving shortly before 10 am; she stated also that she was not informed of this until the time that Staff #1 had to leave.
Plan of Correction: Scheduling of staff will be monitored carefully to ensure future compliance with ratios. If adjustments need to be made to the schedule for planned and unplanned events then administration will immediately adjust as needed. Hiring of staff is also in the process to assist with having more staff to ensure future and continued compliance with ratios.
