Technical Assistance:
Discussion of the subsidy regulations and how they apply to the Child Day Center (CDC). Discussion of training with regards to the 10 hours of Preservice Training offered through Penn State. Drills were up-to-date.

Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted at the Augusta School located in Sterling, Virginia. This inspection was conducted on 02/19/2020, between the hours of 7 am through 1:30 pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An Unannounced Renewal Inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that were not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and were identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B
Description: Based on review, 6 of 10 staff files indicated that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children did not complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/19/2020), the following staff did not have documentation on file that verified the completion the the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff: Staff #1, Staff #4, Staff #7, Staff #8, Staff #9, and Staff #10.
2. This was confirmed on the date of inspection by Staff #2.

Plan of Correction: All applicable staff shall complete this training within one week.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-F
Description: Based on review, 1 of 10 staff files indicated that not all staff were currently certified in CPR and First Aid.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/19/2020), documentation of certification within CPR and First Aid for Staff #1 was not available for review.
2. This was confirmed by Staff #1 on the date of inspection.

Plan of Correction: These certifications shall be obtained and placed on file.
