Technical Assistance:
Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, and allergy lists. Training hours were reviewed, as well as medication.

Comments:
The following inspection took place between the hours of 9:30 am through 1:30 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the ImagiNation Learning Center located in Chantilly, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 91 children observed with 19 classroom staff; good ratios in all 9 rooms. A total of 9 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: art, diapering, napping, hand washing, music, center activity within the classroom, story time, lunch, and other organized activities. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-C
Description: Based on observation, an insecticides was stored in an area used by children.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/20/2020), two containers of insect repellent were observed being stored within the Panda's classroom.
2. These two items were located in an upper cubbie, unlocked, and accessible.
3. There were 17 preschool children within the room at the time of observation.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. These items were left over by a former student. These items were thrown away appropriately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-E
Description: Based on observation, there was not at least 12 inches of space between occupied cribs.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/20/2020), two cribs located in the back of the Elephant 1's room were observed to be less than 12 inches apart.
2. Both cribs were occupied separately.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. Staff separated these two cribs to an appropriate distance.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, a staff person did not wash with soap and running water the hands of a child whose diaper was just changed.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/20/2020), a staff person within the Monkey's room did not wash the hands of a child whose diaper was changed.
2. The staff person stated (during an interview conducted on the date of inspection) that the child when placed down off of the changing table took off and began playing with the other classroom children.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. The staff person washed this child's hands.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B
Description: Based on observation, the diapering surface was observed with a toy wagon being stored on top of it.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (02/20/2020), within the Croc's room, a yellow and red toy wagon was observed on top of the diapering surface.
2. The changing table was not in use at the time of observation. The children were engaged in a classroom activity.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. A staff person relocated this item off of the changing table.
