An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted February 19 2020 between 9:30am and 11:15am. There were 102 children in the direct care of 20 staff members. Children were observed reading books, playing in the indoor play area, washing hands, working on numbers, and eating snack. The center utilizes a language immersion curriculum that includes French, Spanish, and Mandarin. Areas of non-compliance is listed on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on direct observation, the center did not ensure that all medication was in a locked location using a safe locking method to prevent access by children.
Evidence: Medication in Room 8 was located in an unlocked backpack in a medication bag. The medication bag was zipped up and had a lock in place, but the lock was not latched.Plan of Correction: I secured the lock immediately.
