Technical assistance was offered regarding independent contractors.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 10:10 am to 12:30 pm. There were 39 children in direct care and supervision of 8 staff members. The children were observed getting diaper changed, playing with learning manipulatives, conducting a science experiment by mixing colors and playing outdoors on the playground. Children were also observed eating lunch. There were no medications on site. 5 children's and 5 staff records were reviewed. Emergency supplies and drill records were current. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment inside and outside the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
1. Peeling paint was found on the yellow wall in the multi purpose room.
2. There was a broken plastic car for children to ride on the playground, posing an injury hazard.
3. On the playground, the plastic caterpillar equipment for children to climb into had two cracks on the top blue and red parts. The caterpillar pieces were not connected properly making the equipment loose and wobbly.
Plan of Correction: The plastic car and caterpillar were removed from the playground. The multi purpose room will be re-painted.
