A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on Monday, February 24, 2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspector arrived at 10:05am and concluded the inspection at approximately 1:45pm. The census for today?s inspection consisted of 35 children in the direct care of 7 staff members. The center?s director and owner were present and assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. Upon the inspector?s arrival, the children were engaged in a variety of activities. The inspector observed and inspected each classroom and completed formal observations throughout. The children were observed during the various morning transitions, taking bathroom breaks, washing hands, and later preparing for lunch. The infants were observed playing, being fed, held, and sleeping. Diapering procedures were also observed in this classroom. All areas where the children receive care, inside and outside, were inspected. The required postings were observed and found to be in compliance. The center?s first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. Transportation is not provided and medication is not administered at this time. During the inspection, five children?s records and five staff?s records were reviewed. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice. Description:	Based on a review of five staff records and interview on 02/24/2020, the vendor did not ensure that one staff completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of hire. Evidence: 1) The record for Staff #4, whose hire date was 06/11/2019, does not contain documentation that the staff completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 2) During interview, a member of management reported Staff #4 completed the training, but a copy of the certificate was not available for review during the inspection. The member of management was not sure of the date the training was completed.
Plan of Correction:	The vendor will request a copy of the certificate from the staff to include in the record.
