Technical assistance was offered regarding volunteers.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 10:10 am to 1:45 pm. There were 43 children with 10 staff members. The children were observed engaged in group activities, playing outdoors and doing circle time. 4 staff, 1 volunteer and 5 children's records were reviewed. Hand washing was observed before eating lunch and after using the bathroom. There were no medications on site. Areas on non compliance are listed in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observations, areas and equipment inside the center were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
1. In the Bridge 1 and Bridge 2 (preschool) classrooms, there were three stained ceiling tiles that were stained showing signs of water damage.
2. In the Bridge 2 classroom, cabinet doors under the sink were chipped at the bottom edges, exposing splintering wood

Plan of Correction: The maintenance person will fix the ceiling tiles today and the cabinet will be covered with tape.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: In the toddler bathroom, a large bottle of hand sanitizer was stored on the paper towel dispense machine which was within reach of the children.

Plan of Correction: The bottle was removed during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-E
Description: Based on observation, sandboxes were not covered when not in use.
Evidence: The large sandbox on the playground was not covered after being last used on 3/6/20.

Plan of Correction: The sandbox will be covered.
