Technical Assistance:
Discussed procedures for administering medication that includes long-term prescription medication with written authorization from the child's physician and parent. A FARE (Food, Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan) is not sufficient in lieu of authorization forms from the child's parent and physician for long term medications. Discussed medication expiration dates

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 1:45 p.m. and ending at 4:45 p.m. There were 48 children in care ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years old. Infants were observed sleeping and preparing for rest. The toddler class, two year old class, preschool class, prep class and junior kindergarten were all observed during naptime. Classrooms and materials were observed.

Ten children's records and six staff records were reviewed. Seven medications and authorizations were reviewed. Additional information was reviewed regarding a self-reported incident regarding food allergies and staff interviews were conducted.

Violations:

In the Toddler classroom, the diaper pad had a tear in the corner, exposing the absorbent material inside and three cracks in the nonabsorbent surfacing making the diaper pad absorbent.

Plan of Correction: Diaper pads were ordered for both the infant and toddler classroom on 3/10/2020
