Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 3:30 PM until 6:00 PM. The census for today's inspection consisted of 76 children. During the inspection, children were observed eating snack, completing homework, playing outside, reading, and playing chess. Children's equipment, learning materials, outdoor and indoor space, restrooms, first aid kit and the nonmedical emergency supplies were reviewed. Eight children's records and eight staff records, annual fire and health inspections, fire drill and shelter in place drill logs, daily attendance and all required postings were reviewed. The provider stated that transportation is provided and the vehicle and transportation documents were reviewed. Medication is administered and medication, authorization forms and allergy plans were reviewed.

The administrator and another member of management were available for the inspection and were present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee. Violations were cited and can be found in the violation notice.

Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that children's hands are washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals.

Evidence:
1. The children went to the cafeteria to eat snack/dinner without washing their hands with soap and running water or disposable wipes.
2. The children finished eating snack and began the next activity without washing their hands with soap and running water or disposable wipes
3. A member of management reported that the children did not wash hands or use disposable wipes before or after meals.

Plan of Correction: Make sure all staff know the policy for handwashing and sanitizing tables.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E
Description: Based on review of non-medical emergency supplies, the center did not ensure that all non-medical emergency supplies were available on site.

Evidence:
1. There was not a working, battery operated radio on site.
2. Staff verified that there was not a working, battery operated radio on site.
