Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A initial inspection concluded on 06/18/2020. The owner was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas of the center were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
In the 2.5 -5 year-old room there was a line of cubbies against a ramp. The cubbies were not secured, posing a tipping hazard.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
The owner will bolt the cubbies to ensure they are secure.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B
Description: Based on observation and interview with the owner, the center's diapering area did not ensure there was a sink with running warm water.
Evidence:
There was a portable sinks in the infant and 2 year-old room. The sinks did not have a tank of water and did not run during the inspection. The owner confirmed she did not put in a clean refill. The owner stated the portable sinks use electricity to heat the water. The owner further stated she did not have a plan in the event of loss of electricity.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
The owner plans to obtain a generator to ensure in the event of loss of electricity.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-D
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all required emergency supplies were at the center.
Evidence:
The center's emergency radio did not have batteries to operate it.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
Batteries will be obtained for the radio, in addition to back-up batteries.
