Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 6:58 AM and ending at 7:45 AM. There were twenty children in the care of three staff members. The children's ages ranged between five and ten years old. The children were observed doing an activity about drama and theater. The children were observed enacting plays. Seven children's records and three staff records were reviewed and in compliance. Seven medications were reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and radio were observed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was documented as 2/28/20. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented as 11/18/19. The most recent fire inspection was dated 10/28/19. The most recent health inspection was dated 5/22/19.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A
Description: Based on a review of seven medications, the center did not have written authorization from the parent to administer medication. Evidence: There was no medication authorization for child A's emergency medication.

Plan of Correction: The center will provide the parent with a ten day medication authorization form until the long term medication authorization can be signed by the physician.
