This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternative remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 07/06/2020 and concluded on 07/10/2020. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 41 children and 7 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records during the inspection to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on record review and discussion with staff, the facility failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the facility obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon the completion of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia.
Evidence: The record for Staff #1 had a document hire date of 01/22/2019 and the payroll documents indicated a hire date of 01/28/2020. The date on the fingerprint eligibility letter was 01/30/2019.Plan of Correction: No new employees are hired prior to receiving the eligibility letter.
