This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 7/13/2020 and concluded on 7/13/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 45 children present and 18 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and one violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on a review of staff background checks, it was determined that center management personnel did not conduct follow up within 45 days to determine the status of one staff person's out of state central registry search request.
Evidence:
Staff B has a documented date of hire of 11/12/18. Documentation in this person's file indicates that she has resided outside of the state of Virginia within the past 5 years. Center management staff submitted a second out of state central registry search on 1/7/19, but did not receive any findings information or report. Management staff did not follow up and contact the state within the required 45 days to determine the status of the out of state search request.Plan of Correction: I have sent two out of state search requests. I will follow up with the state to determine if they process out of state searches and/or determine what steps I need to take to complete the out of state search. I will provide the follow up documentation to my Inspector within the required 10 days.
