Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on (7/16/2020) and concluded on (7/17/2020). The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were (21) children present and (8) staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed (3) children?s records and (3) staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-4
Description: Based on review of training certificates and an interview with staff, the facility failed to ensure that a child for whom emergency medications have been prescribed shall always be in the care of a staff member or independent contractor who meets the requirements in subdivision 1 of this subsection.
Evidence:
1. There is no staff member who holds current certification in administering medication. There is one child enrolled who requires emergency medication.

Plan of Correction: The facility was scheduled to attend MAT training on 4/18/20 but due to COVID 19 restrictions this had to be postponed. The director has reached out to the trainer since the first of June to reschedule and no date has been secured. The director will continue to search for an available trainer.
