This unannounced renewal inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 7/21/20 and concluded on 7/21/20. The director was contacted by video call to conduct the inspection virtually. There were 39 children present with 9 staff. The inspector informed director of the items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years.
Evidence:
1. The director provided the record for child 1 during a virtual inspection. The date of birth was documented as 11/10/17. The immunization record was dated 11/13/18.
2. The director stated the 11/13/18 immunization record was the only immunization record they had.Plan of Correction: The parents of child 1 will be asked to provide an updated immunization record. Children's records will be reviewed to ensure immunization records do not need to be updated. In the future a system will be put in place to ensure immunization records are updated as required.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to implement a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence:
1. The director provided the documentation of the emergency evacuation drills for 2020 during a virtual inspection. There was no documentation for the month of June.
2. The director verified they did not complete a drill for the month of June.Plan of Correction: The director will ensure evacuation drills will be conducted every month from now on.
