Technical assistance was offered regarding the following: Supervision of children while using the bathrooms on the third level, obtaining additional equipment for the school age program, completion of playground installation; and new requirements for background checks effective July 1, 2020. Additionally, the licensee has been notified that space calculations will be measured again at the first on-site visit to the center. If any discrepancies are found, total capacity may have to be adjusted.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
Today an announced virtual initial inspection was conducted beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 12:30 pm. The physical plant, staff qualifications, background checks, policies and procedures and the emergency preparedness plan were reviewed. Space calculations provided by the applicant were used to determine capacity. Rooms are equipped with supplies, equipment, and age appropriate activities for children. Cribs for the use of infants were inspected, and crib compliance documentation was reviewed. The playground surface and equipment installation was not complete, and will need to be inspected at a later date. The playground cannot be used until it has been inspected. Though many areas related to supervision and care of children could not be inspected due to no children in care at this time, there were no observed violations cited during this inspection.
