Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was conducted on 8/31/2020. An exit interview was conducted on 9/1/2020. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 23 children present, ages 23 months - nine years of age with four staff supervising. The Inspector reviewed two children's records, two caregiver records, two applicant/agent records, the menu, emergency drill log, first aid kit, hand washing and diapering procedures, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of toys and surfaces, and daily indoor and outdoor activities. The last health inspection was dated: 12/31/2019 and the last fire inspection was dated: 11/18/2019. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with one standard that is documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. If you have further questions about this inspection please contact Donna Liberman at 540-359-5244 or Donna.Liberman@dss.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-A
Description: Based on review of two applicant/agent records, and an interview with the owner/director, it was determined that not all agents had an Office of Background Investigations (OBI) fingerprinting-based criminal history record check completed. Evidence: the record for agent #2 did not have an OBI fingerprinting determination letter. Documentation of a name search criminal history check was dated: 9/17/2014.

Plan of Correction: My husbands background check expired and he has been overseas and will be returning this month. An OBI fingerprint-base background check will be scheduled after he returns.
