Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An announced virtual initial inspection was conducted on 09/03/2020 from 2:00pm to 3:43pm. There were no children in care during this inspection as the center has not yet opened for child day care purposes. The center will operate in five rooms on two levels of the building. The rooms consist of tables, chairs, balls, toys, games, craft materials manipulative's, and school supplies. The center is requesting a licensed capacity for 21 children ages 1 year 4 months through 5 years 11 months.

The program will not offer meals or snacks. Medication will not be administered. Transportation is not provided.

During the inspection, compliance with some standards could not be determined since the center is not yet in operation. Compliance with these standards will be determined during unannounced visits once the program is in operation. Though some standards of care could not be determined during the initial study, the center is in substantial compliance with the standards that could be determined.

If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact your licensing inspector, Kandra Brown, at (804) 662-9038.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-5
Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure at least one staff member had obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation of children.
Evidence:
The inspector reviewed two staff records during the virtual initial inspection. Both staff records did not contain documentation of daily health observation training. The center's representative stated that they do not have the training and will complete it as soon as possible.

Plan of Correction: I will complete the training as soon as possible.
