An out of state search of the sex offender registry must be completed for all staff who have resided outside of the state of Virginia within the past 5 years. In addition, an out of state criminal history record search must be completed for staff who have resided in any non-NFF states within the past 5 years.
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/2/2020 and concluded on 9/4/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 28 children present and 10 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and one violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on a review of staff background searches, it was determined that one required out of state search of the central registry was not completed.
Staff A began employment on 4/3/2020. This person's Sworn Disclosure Statement indicates that she has resided outside of the state of Virginia within the past 5 years. Management staff did not complete a request of a search of the Central Registry for the state in which she resided.
Plan of Correction: I will submit the request and provide documentation to my Inspector within 10 days as required.
