An out of state search of the sex offender registry must be completed for all staff who have resided outside of the state of Virginia within the past 5 years. In addition, an out of state criminal history record search must be completed for staff who have resided in any non-NFF states within the past 5 years.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/9/2020 and concluded on 9/11/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 35 children present and 7 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and one violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on a review of staff background checks, it was determined that one staff person has not submitted to a fingerprint background search as required.
Evidence:
Staff person C has a documented date of hire of 9/28/15. This person has not completed a fingerprint background search.Plan of Correction: That employee is a YMCA employee, but she is not an ongoing member of the staff at this school. She is here temporarily while we offer support for the public school system's virtual learning. I will make sure she registers for a fingerprint appointment within the next 10 days, and I will send verification documentation to my Inspector as required. In the meantime, the staff person will not be permitted to work with the children.
