Technical Assistance:
Discussed the new background check legislation that went into effect on July 1, 2020.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternative remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virignia.

A non-mandated monitoring inspection was initiated on September 1, 2020 and concluded on September 3, 2020.The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 68 children present and 23 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed five
children records, and six staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Classroom observation were completed, and a diaper change, transition times, and lunchtime were observed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on review of medications, the center failed to ensure that all medication was labeled with the dosage amount.

Evidence:
1. Child 2M had an emergency medication at the center that was not labeled with the dosage amount.
2. Staff verified that the emergency medication was not labeled with the dosage amount.

Plan of Correction: Staff immediately labeled the medication with the dosage amount. In the future staff will review all medication being accepted into the center to make sure it is labeled with all required information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all prepared infant formulas was dated.

Evidence:
1. In Classroom #1 there were two prepared infant bottle in the refrigerator that were not dated.
2. In Classroom #2 there was one prepared infant bottle in the refrigerator that was not dates
3. Staff verified that the infant bottles were not labeled with a date.

Plan of Correction: Staff immediately dated the bottles. In the future staff will create pre-dated sticker labels so when the children are dropped off in the morning they can place the label on the bottle before placing it in the refrigerator.
