This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on Thursday, September 17, 2020 and concluded on Friday, September 18, 2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 35 children present and 9 staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on review of records, documentation, and interview with staff, the center did not ensure to obtain all information as required.
Evidence: In Staff #2's record (date of hire 7/202/2020), the two references checks completed were conducted after employment or volunteering. The documentation revealed the dates of completion for two references checked were 08/10/2020 and 08/18/2020. Interview with staff confirmed the dates record on the documentation for completions of reference checks for Staff#2.Plan of Correction: Moving forward the program would not make the decision for hire until two or morre references have been reviewed.
