This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 9/21/2020 and concluded on 9/24/2020. The director was contacted via email to initiate the virtual inspection. There were 19 children present and 4 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-540-A Description: Based upon review of three staff records, the facility has not ensured that staff have submitted documentation that they have been evaluated by a health professional and issued a statement that the individual is determined to be free of communicable tuberculosis (TB) at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children and that the documentation was completed within the last 30 calendar days prior to the date of employment.
Evidence:
The record provided for staff 1 included a hire date of 9/22/2020. Staff 1 was on duty with the children during the inspection. The tuberculosis screening provided in the record for staff 1 in dated 2/7/2020, which is not within 30 calendar days prior to hire.Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Staff 1 will be sent for a tuberculosis screening. In the future, any new employee will be required to obtain a tuberculosis screening within 30 days prior to hire.
