Code of Virginia changes effective July 1, 2020 reviewed with emphasis on new out-of-state background check requirements for staff.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/16/2020 and concluded on 10/20/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 18 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 4 staff records and 2 children's records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that children's records contain all of the required elements.
Evidence:
1. The enrollment record for child 1 and child 2 lacked documentation of the first date of attendance.
2. The program director confirmed that attendance dates had not been listed on these enrollment forms.Plan of Correction: Enrollment dates will be added today.
