Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on a review of documentation and interview, it was determined that the center and its staff failed to ensure the care, protection and guidance of children in care.
On 10/2/20 at approximately 4:58 pm,13 school age children and one staff were outside on the playground. During this outside time, child A ( 7 years of age) got on the back of child B (12 years of age) for a "piggy-back" ride. At some point during the "piggy-back" ride, child A fell off child B's back and used their hand to brace the fall which resulted in a broke wrist.
Staff failed to intervene and redirect the children to appropriate play and failed to have the children adhere to the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) COVID-19 guidelines and information document regarding children maintaining social distancing of six feet.
