The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. The following Phase 3 recommendations were discussed: social distancing of children and staff and the wearing of masks by children two years of age and older.
- Comments:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/4/2020 and concluded on 11/9/2020. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 123 children, 21 staff, 1 support personnel and 2 administrators present. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 8 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based upon review of eight staff records and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check from any state in which an applicant has resided in the preceding five years is obtained before a final determination is made of the individual's eligibility to have responsibility for the safety and well-being of children.
Evidence:
1. The record provided for staff 7 indicated a date of employ of 10/28/2020. The record indicated that staff 7 lived in another state in the previous five years. The record did not include the results of a criminal history record information check for that state.
2. Staff 9 and 10 verified that an out of state criminal history record check was not obtained for staff 7.Plan of Correction: The Criminal history record check will be immediately obtained for staff 7 from the state in which she previously lived.
All Future hiring decisions will be made after a criminal history record check has been obtained.
