This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on November 12, 2020 and concluded on November 12, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 41 children present and 10 direct staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and four staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review, two of four required records were not kept for each staff person.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2's (Date of Hire-10/26/2020) record contain documentation of two references dated 11/04/2020 and 11/05/2020. References were checked after the date of hire.
2. Staff #4's (Date of Hire-10/30/2020) record contain documentation of two references dated 11/04/2020 and 11/10/2020. References were checked after the date of hire.Plan of Correction: Moving forward, references will be checked before the a staff member begins employment.
