This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 12/10/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were (67) children present and (13) staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed (4) children?s records and (4) staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of four staff records, the center did not obtain a central registry report within 30 days of employment of a staff member.
Evidence:
1. Staff #4 began employment on 10/28/2020 and the center did not have the central registry results.Plan of Correction: I will follow up with the background office to find out the status or resend it.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of 4 staff records, the center did not obtain the out of State Child Abuse and Neglect Search Request by the end of the 30th day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 was hired on 9/28/2020 and lived in WV in the last 5 years. The center did not request the out of State Child Abuse and Neglect Search by the end of the 30th day of employment.Plan of Correction: I will have this signed and sent out.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on review of 4 staff records, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of the sex offender registry check from any state in which the applicant has resided in the preceding five years prior to hiring.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 was hired on 9/28/2020 and lived in WV in the last 5 years. The center did not obtain the results of the sex offender registry prior to hiring the staff member. They obtained it on 10/13/2020.Plan of Correction: I will make sure this is done prior to hiring anyone in the future that lived in another State.
