This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternative remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An initial inspection was initiated and completed December 17, 2020. The director was contacted by phone to initiate the inspection. A remote visual inspection was conducted by phone in order to observe the center, areas designated for child care, and the required documentation.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-420-A Description: Based on a review of the center's policies and procedures, the center did not ensure that information given to parents prior to enrollment was complete. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed that the parent handbook did not include operating information to include the days of operation and holidays or other times closed. Plan of Correction: Administration will update the parent handbook.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-A Description: Based on a review of the center's emergency preparedness plan, the center did not ensure that each required component was addressed in the plan. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed the center's emergency preparedness plan did not address scenarios for an intruder or for terrorism. Plan of Correction: Administration will update the emergency preparedness plan.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B Description: Based on a review of the center's emergency preparedness plan, the center did not ensure that each required procedural component was addressed in the plan. Evidence: 1. The licensing inspector observed that the center's emergency preparedness plan did not clearly identify the center's emergency officer and back-up officer to include a 24-hour contact telephone number for each. 2. The plan did not address notification of local media in emergency communication. Plan of Correction: Administration will update the emergency preparedness plan.
