This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/14/2020 and concluded on 12/17/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 24 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-B Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to obtain fingerprint based criminal history background checks.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed four staff records. Two of four records reviewed, staff record #1 (hire date 11/20/2020) and staff record #4 (hire date 10/17/2020) did not contain results of a fingerprint based criminal history background check.Plan of Correction: Staff #1 and staff #4 will schedule appointments to get their fingerprints taken. When the center receives the results of the fingerprint based background checks, a copy will be sent to the licensing office.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-C Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to ensure all repeat background checks were obtained every five years.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed four staff records. One of four records reviewed (staff record #3) contained a search of the central registry check that was dated 08/27/2015.Plan of Correction: Staff #3 completed a request for a new search of the central registry today. When the center receives the results of the search of the central registry check, a copy will be sent to the licensing office.
