This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/9/20 and concluded on 12/14/20. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 114 children present and 18 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed five children?s records and five staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-B Description: Based on review of five staff records, the center did not obtain the results of a negative tuberculin (TB) skin test that included documentation of the date the test was given and results of the test for one staff. Evidence: The TB test on file for Staff 1 included documentation of the TB test being placed on 10/4/2019 but did not include the results of the test. Plan of Correction: We were under the impression that the documentation was a screening. We will have the Teacher go again this week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on review of documentation and staff interview, the center did not obtain annual approval from the health department. Evidence: The health inspection on file is dated 11/5/2019. Plan of Correction: We reached out to the health department on 11/13/20 but unfortunately the inspection has not happened yet. Moving forward we will reach out the month before the inspection expires.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of documentation, the center did not practice a monthly evacuation drill. Evidence: The drill log submitted for the past year did not contain documentation of an evacuation drill conducted during the month of October 2020. Plan of Correction: We will be sure to practice and document an evacuation drill monthly moving forward.
