Comments:
An announced monitoring inspection was conducted at the request of the licensee for an increase in capacity and use of additional designated program space (Classroom #1613, #1612, #1611, #160, #1609, #1608,#606, #1605, #1606, #1602, #1600, #1509, #1505, #1403. The inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. The monitoring inspection was initiated on December 22, 2020 and concluded on December 22, 2020. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspection included a review of center documentation and observation of new program space virtually. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: The following hazardous substance were observed in an unlocked manner.
1) Thirteen classrooms were observed and all had a container of hand sanitizer near the front door.
2)Classroom #1613 had a spray container of disinfectant in a cabinet and classroom #1403 had a spray container of disinfectant on a counter.
3) Classroom #1505 had a container of sanitizing wipes on the counter.
All items had the statement "keep out of reach of children" and at least an additional statement as listed "caution", 'hazardous", "flammable" and "warning".

Plan of Correction: The director will have all items mentioned put in locked cabinets (hand sanitizer, wipes and spay).
