This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A complaint inspection was conducted on December 21, 2020. A complaint was received by the department on November 30, 2020 regarding areas of supervision and COVID-19 guidance. The director was contacted by telephone to conduct the investigation. The licensing inspector interviewed five staff members.
The evidence gathered during the investigation did not support the allegations of non-compliance with standards or laws. Therefore the complaint is not valid. There was one violation cited that was not related to the complaint. The violation can be found on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-G Complaint related: No Description: Based on interviews, the center failed to ensure that prepared formula was not be heated or warmed directly in a microwave.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 and Staff #3 stated that there was one child in care that at the parent's request they were to heat the prepared bottle in the microwave.
2. Staff #3 stated that the the bottle had been reheated in the microwave on 12/21/2020.Plan of Correction: Administration will speak with the parents making them aware they will not be honor their request to heat the bottle in the microwave. Administration will also speak with the infant room staff and review the standard.
