This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 01/11/2021 and completed on 01/14/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 57 children present with 9 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and a violation has been documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-C Description: Based on record review and interview, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children and who are employed prior to October 17, 2018 shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Social Services, to include all of the topics applicable to new staff, within January 16, 2019.
Evidence:
1. Staff 1, hire date 08/30/2018, has not completed the updated preservice training according to record review and staff interview.Plan of Correction: Management will ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed prior to the staff member beginning employment. Management will conduct frequent inspections of employee files to ensure that all paperwork is compliant. District Manager will periodically check.
