Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/15/2020 and concluded on 12/15/2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 2 children present and 2 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-180-B
Description: Based on staff interviews, staff was not able to effectively communicate orally with licensing.
Evidence: Identified during the interview with on site staff, that Staff A could not understand the inspector and answer basic questions about the facility and how the facility was run, nor could the staff member understand enough English to answer most of the inspectors questions. The inspector was able to get the rest of their questions answered by the owner of the facility, when the owner showed up to assist with a virtual tour of the facility.

Plan of Correction: Our school is a Spanish inversion progam where we have teacehrs with many years of experience, knowledgeable, well-educated and nurturing. the communication with our families is not aproblem as our children are Spanish speaking. We are in the process of hiring available teachers. Since this call was unannounced and unexpected our teacher was confused, and it is also hard to describe through the phone.
*As soon as possible. End of January.
