The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Social distancing during meals and virtual learning was discussed with the director.

INSPECTION SUMMARY
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 01/18/2021 and concluded on 01/22/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 83 children present and 17 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on a record review the center di d not ensure all background check requirements were met.
Evidence:
Staff #4, hired 11/11/20 listed living out of the state of Virginia on the sworn statement of affirmation. The center did not obtain a sex offender check from the state listed on the sworn statement.Plan of Correction: The New York Sex Offender Registry Check for the employee was redone on 1/22/2021. When employee transferred it was misplaced in the files. Management will ensure that all necessary background and registry checks are completed/ initiated upon the employee?s start date. DM will do periodic inspection.
