Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on February 10, 2021 and concluded on February 10, 2021. The director or in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were twenty seven children present and seven staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed four children?s records and five staff/agent records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 10 calendar days from today. You will need to specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Just writing the word ?corrected? is not acceptable. Your plan of correction must contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventive measure(s).

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Please contact Beth Orebaugh, licensing inspector, if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards, and/or if you need any additional assistance at (540) 847-9173.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based on review of staff records, the facility did not obtain a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.

Evidence:
1. Staff #1, with a hire date of 08/24/20, did not have documentation of a central registry check on file exceeding the 30 day allowance.
2. Administrator verified that there was not documentation of a central registry check on file for Staff #1.

Plan of Correction: As soon as I noticed that I could not find the criminal record check, I sent one off for her. I have not received the response back from the state yet.
