Technical Assistance:
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on 02/08/21 and concluded on 02/12/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 34 children present and 7 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 8 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-4
Description: Based on a record review and interview the center did not ensure that there would always be a staff member present that holds Medication Administration Training(MAT) when a child whom emergency medications have been prescribed was present.
Evidence:
The center had at least 2 children in care that had prescribed emergency medications. The center had 1 staff member with MAT training who typically works 6:30am-12pm and on occasion returns to the center to do bus runs. The center did not have a MAT trained staff member available to administer emergency medication, if needed, from 12:00pm until the center closes at 6:00pm.

Plan of Correction: This will be corrected on 2/25/2021. This was the first class we could get set up. Management will ensure that the staff have proper training certifications. DM will inspect to ensure compliance.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-I
Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not meet all requirements for special feeding needs.
Evidence:
The center did not have a one day's emergency supply of disposable bottles, nipples and commercial formula appropriate for children in care. The director and infant staff confirmed that the did not have or were aware of having the items required on the one-day emergency supply.

Plan of Correction: This was corrected on 2/12/2021. The bag was misplaced in the classroom at the time of visit. All staff retrained on the location of emergency supplies. Safety captain will do periodic checks to ensure compliance. Management will also do inspections to ensure compliance .
