This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on February 17, 2021 and concluded on February 17, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 18 children present and 4 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B Description: Based on review of four staff records, the center did not obtain documentation that all staff have completed Virginia Preservice Training within the first 90 days of employment.
Evidence:
1.Staff D, with a start date of 7/1/19, did not have documentation of completing Virginia Preservice Training.Plan of Correction: I will get the staff member to complete the Preservice and Update training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-780-A-3 Description: Based on a review of records, the licensee failed to practice lockdown procedures at least annually.
Evidence:
1. A review of the practice drill log revealed no documented lockdown drill for 2020.
2. Administrator acknowledged that a lock down drill was not practiced last year.Plan of Correction: The Director will add a space for lockdown drills in the practice drill log and will ensure that this is practiced at least annually.
