63.2(17) License & Registration Procedures
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 02/18/2021 and concluded on 02/18/2021. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 81 children present and 14 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain a copy of the results of a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
1. Staff 1 has a hire date of 11/16/2020. Staff 1 resided in another state within the past five years indicated on the sworn statement or affirmation. The results of a sex offender registry check were not available for staff 1. The director confirmed the sex offender registry check was not completed.
Plan of Correction: Management submitted missing check during the visit. Moving forward management will review all state requirements for out of state background checks and ensure that all are completed prior to start date.
