This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on March 19, 2021 and concluded on March 19, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 144 children present and 28 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed five children?s records and five staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on review of five staff records, the facility did not obtain the fingerprint based national criminal background check by 09/30/2018.
Evidence:
The record of staff #5, hired 10/30/2017, had documentation of the fingerprint based national criminal background check dated 12/07/2018. Staff hired prior to 01/22/2018 were required to complete a fingerprint based national criminal background check 09/30/2018.Plan of Correction: per the Administrator: "It is important to note that this staff member had a current Police Criminal Record Check in her file, but did not follow instructions to complete the newly required fingerprint background check in the appropriate time frame. When DSS updated their required background checks, the owners and directors worked with all employees to update their files appropriately. Despite multiple conversations with this employee, she did not complete the new background check in the required time-frame. Since then, we have established systems for ensuring all background checks are done in a timely fashion."
