63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Technical Assistance:
During inspection the proper treatment of children was discussed. Practices that may not be in line with social and emotional development were reviewed.

Comments:
A complaint investigation was initiated on December 6, 2020 with another local agency and ended on January 27,2021 regarding the verbal and social and emotional mistreatment of 2 children as well as administrative practices. Interviews were conducted, and documentation reviewed. There was not a preponderance of evidence to support the allegation regarding verbal and social and emotional mistreatment; however, the complaint was deemed valid with regard to administrative practices. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on review and interview it was determined that records were not maintained for all children in care.

Evidence: During interview staff stated that 2 children in care did not have a record available as required.

Plan of Correction: We usually keep records for every child. We unware and will continue to maintain child records.

Complaint related: No
Description: Based on interview and conversation it was determined that all required background checks were not maintained for an adult who provided regular care or interaction with children in care.

Evidence: During inspection interview, staff stated that sworn statement was not completed and was unavailable upon request.

Plan of Correction: This person was a volunteer; We will continue to maintain background checks for all adults in contact with children.
