63.2(17) License & Registration Procedures

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/24/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were two children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at or 540-905-2062.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C
Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with the director, the center failed to ensure that staff obtained documentation of the results of a follow-up tuberculosis (TB) screening at least every two years from the date of the first screening or testing. Evidence: The most recent TB test results on record for Staff 1 were dated 9/20/2018. The most recent TB test results on record for Staff 2 were dated 3/20/18. The director confirmed these were the most recent TB tests the staff have completed.

Plan of Correction: We will try to get these done as soon as possible.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-530-A
Description: Based on interview with the director, the center did not ensure that there is always at least one staff member who is current in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and rescue breathing who is on the premises during the center's hours of operation. Evidence: The director stated that all of the staff CPR and First Aid certifications expired in March 2020.

Plan of Correction: We will all have our 2nd dose of the COVID vaccine soon and I will schedule a CPR/First Aid class right away.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor.
