This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 04/01/21 and concluded on 04/05/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 24 children present and three staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-A Description: Based on a review of three staff records and interview, the center did not obtain a repeat background check for one staff member every five years.
Evidence: 1) The record for Staff #3, hired on 09/11/06, contains documentation of a central registry search dated 03/29/16. The central registry search should have been updated by 03/29/21. 2) During interview, the director verified a repeat central registry search has not been conducted for Staff #3.Plan of Correction: The director requested a new central registry check for Staff #3. In the future, repeat checks will be completed timely.
