This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on May 4, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 36 children present and 10 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review, required records were not kept for each staff person.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1's( Date of hire-04/19/2021) record had documentation of two references checked after the date of hire. The references were checked on 04/21/2021.Plan of Correction: References will be checked prior to hire date.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check, a sex offender registry check, and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #3's (Date of Hire-04/12/2021) record contains a Sworn Statement indicating that Staff #3 has resided in the states of Alabama and Florida in the last 5 years. An out of state criminal name check and sex offender registry check were not completed for the state of Alabama prior to the first date of employment. The state of Florida is a National Fingerprint File(NFF) state; therefore, an out of state criminal history name check is not required. An out of state sex offender registry check was not completed for the state of Florida.Plan of Correction: An Out of State Criminal History name check and sex offender registry check will be conducted for the state of Alabama. An out of state sex offender registry check will be conducted. The results will be sent to the licensing inspector and documented in the staff file. An out of state Child Abuse and Neglect(CPS) Search Request will be conducted for the state of Alabama and Florida.
