The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Masks and social distancing is still recommended.
- Comments:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on 05/28/2021 and concluded on 06/02/2021. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 67 children present and 18 staff. The inspector emailed the in-charge person a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 7 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
The classrooms had cubby shelves that were not secured to a wall, posing a tipping hazard.Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview:
The director will go through each classroom and secure any cubby that may pose a tipping hazard.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-N Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure toys or objects did not hang over infant cribs.
Evidence:
A 4 month-old child was observed in a crib supine. Staff had placed toy that sat in the crib with its feet on either side of the baby and objects dangling from the arch toy.Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview:
The toy was removed from the crib during the inspection. The director will speak with infant staff about what is appropriate for cribs.
