This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 06/09/2021 and completed on 06/16/2021. A self-reported incident was received by the department regarding an allegation in the area of behavioral guidance. The director shared information necessary to conduct the investigating. The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the self-report of non-compliance with standards or law and a violation was issued.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-410-1 Description: Based on interview, the center staff used physical punishment as punishment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 called the inspector to report witnessing staff #2 swatting child #1 on their bottom. 2. Staff #3 stated that staff #2 admitted to swatting the child.Plan of Correction: The employee was terminated. Staff were retrained on appropriate discipline.
