This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was completed on August 25, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 89 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to 5 years, with 10 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 children's records were reviewed. Complete records were reviewed for four staff and updated background checks were reviewed for four staff.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-A Description: Based on the review of four complete staff records, the review of background checks for four staff and confirmation from the director, the center did not obtain a search of the child abuse and neglect registry within the last five years for five staff members.
Evidence:
1. An updated search of the child abuse and neglect registry had not been obtained for Staff #4, Staff #5, Staff #6, Staff #7 and Staff #8. The most recent search of the child abuse and neglect registry for Staff #4, Staff #6, Staff #7 and Staff #8 was 08/09/2016. The most recent search for Staff #5 was 08/10/2016.
2. The director confirmed that she was late in sending the requests to have updated child abuse and neglect registry searches completed for Staff #4, Staff #5, Staff #6, Staff # 7, and Staff #8.Plan of Correction: The director sent in the requests to have the searches completed on 08/17/2021 for Staff #4, Staff #7 and Staff #8. She sent the requests for Staff #5 and Staff #6 on 08/18/2021. She will make sure to have all updated background checks completed within five years of the most recent.
