Technical Assistance:
Completion of the Annual Virginia Health and Safety Update training for child care staff is required annually of subsidy vendors and their staff. This requirement is stated on the vendor agreement (section 7), the subsidy regulation (new number under VDOE - 8VAC20-790-600-H) for centers, and the Child Care VA website. Subsidy and their training staff update this free training every fiscal year, so facilities are essentially accessing the latest version of the update training at any time. Subsidy applicant and vendor-related matters such as application process, vendor change of address, program eligibility, etc. should be sent to vendor.manager@dss.virginia.gov.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents in review, and an interview with staff. Due to technical issues, the virtual tour of the program could not be conducted.

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was initiated on and concluded on 09/02/2021. There were 30 children present with 10 staff supervising, within 4 separate classrooms. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined a non-compliance with an applicable standard. A violation was documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

If you should have any questions, please call or send an email to charlie.perkins@doe.virginia.gov. Thank you.
